FAYETTEVILLE — Grand Valley State defensive tackle Jay’viar Suggs has seen his recruiting explode since he entered the transfer portal.

Suggs, 6-3, 295, will visit Arkansas today and Sunday. Suggs entered the transfer portal on April 21 and since then offers have rolled in faster than he can probably count them. He is a grad transfer and will have two years to play at his new school.

In 2023, Suggs had 21 tackles, seven solo, 7.5 for loss, five sacks, four pass breakups, two quarterback hurries and a forced fumble.

Arkansas offered him on Thursday. In the six days he has been in the portal, Suggs has picked up offers from Central Michigan, Coastal Carolina, Miami (Fla.), Miami (Ohio), Purdue, Kentucky, Minnesota, Michigan State, Nebraska, Louisville, TCU, Iowa, Wisconsin, Kansas State, Arkansas State, Colorado State, Utah State, Indiana, Houston, San Diego State, UAB, Liberty, Georgia Southern, Temple, Ohio, Western Kentucky, Tulane, Eastern Michigan, James Madison, North Texas, FAU, Appalachian State and Old Dominion.

Arkansas hosted Texas Southern defensive tackle Elinus Noel III, 6-2, 330, on Friday and early Saturday morning before he headed to Baylor for an official visit. Arkansas doesn’t have any defensive tackles in the Class of 2024. Sources indicate they would like to add two from the transfer portal. They also hosted Louisville defensive tackle Tawfiq Thomas, 6-4, 310, earlier this week. He’s at Colorado this weekend.
