Nortje returns for Proteas

Having missed out on the team in recent times due to injury, Nortje’s return will be a big boost for the side which also includes the likes of Kagiso Rabada and Gerald Coetzee. Nortje has been a big value addition to the Delhi Capitals side in the Indian Premier League (IPL 2024) season. Quinton de Kock will also feature for the Proteas in his last T20 World Cup for the nation. He had earlier announced his desire to retire from national duty after the tournament in the USA and the West Indies.

De Kock’s potential partner in the Playing XI will be Ryan Rickelton who impressed in the SA20 in South Africa. The middle order will consist of Markram, Heinrich Klaasen, David Miller and Tristan Stubbs with all starring for their respective sides in the IPL.

Interestingly, captain Temba Bavuma, Rilee Rossouw and Wayne Parnell have not found a spot in the squad though they have been part of the national team in recent times. Nandre Burger and Lungi Ngidi will travel to the USA and West Indies as reserves.
